Conductor Jose Aparicio. Napier Civic Choir and Hawke’s Bay Orchestra.
Soloists – Lisa Harper-Brown – soprano; Carleen Ebbs – soprano; Declan Cudd – tenor

Schubert’s Stabat Mater in G minor, D 175; Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder; Mozart’s ‘Great’ Mass in C minor, K 427.

Lisa Harper-Brown performs one of Wagner’s two non-operatic works, expressing wistfulness, pathos and intensity in the romantic style. Mozart’s ‘Great’ Mass, written for his wife, was a very intimate and personal work by this genius of Salzburg. Unfinished like his requiem, it possesses some of his most beautiful church music.
